In short, TMO provides the full benefits of professional email and BlackBerry services, allowing fee earners a secure and reliable way to keep in touch with clients and colleagues when they are out of the office, all for one low monthly subscription, without the need for capital investment or dedicated IT support.

In future months, TMO will also offer a number of add on legal specific applications (such as digital dictation) and file sharing capabilities, again on a monthly subscription basis.

TMO allows users to gain the benefits of using the full BlackBerry® Professional Service, without the capital outlay required for an Exchange Server and BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software. Unlike other hosted services, Total is a full service provider and can supply your BlackBerry® smartphone device, with airtime and hosting for an inclusive affordable monthly subscription. Furthermore, we can also supply your broadband. Thus you have one point of contact for any queries or support.

You may already have access to your email on a mobile device via POP3. However, this is really the tip of the iceberg in the current mobile data market. TMO gives you access to the full professional BlackBerry® service and all the allied benefits.

Your email is hosted in a secure environment, that also provides a full back up of your historic messages. You gain the full benefit of the high level of security and encryption associated with the BlackBerry solution, particularly important for client confidentiality - lost or stolen devices can even be wiped over the air. Additionally, TMO offers the highest levels of spam protection, and allows full synchronisation of email, calendars and contacts.

Email users within your organisation who don't require a BlackBerry device are also able to take advantage of hosted email for a reduced monthly subscription.

We have designed TMO primarily for smaller legal firms, from sole practitioners upwards. The product allows access to benefits that generally may not be available or affordable or where highly technical internal deployments are not required.

However, TMO can also address issues for larger firms who may be looking at outsourcing or alternative ways to manage their mobile data and applications requirements.

All your email and BlackBerry® technology requirements are provided via a secure online platform. This platform is run by experts and is designed to provide large-scale fully secure services for small businesses.

You can connect to this platform from anywhere, using Microsoft Outlook, Webmail and/or your BlackBerry® smartphone. You can use multiple computers, which all synchronise automatically and allow you to share your diary, folders and contacts with colleagues. Soon you will also be able to share your files with colleagues.

The TMO service utilises your own email domain meaning that you no longer need to have expensive server equipment within your own offices

Everything is automatically backed up and TMO provides protection with robust anti-spam and anti-virus technologies. The service has multiple layers of redundancy meaning it is more reliable and more secure than virtually any internal deployment could be.

Total Mobile Office is available for a monthly subscription of £35. This is based on a two year contract and includes:

- A free BlackBerry® smartphone of your choice

- A voice and data connection, which means all your domestic email and web browsing is included. The only additional charges will be for SMS/MMS (text messaging), international data usage and voice calls, for which you will be provided with full tariff details.

- Hosting of your email on the TMO platform, including Microsoft Outlook licensing, advanced anti-spam and email filtering on a per user basis, secure daily backup, anti-virus scanning, unlimited public folders and distribution groups and polling of external mailboxes.

- Access to the TMO portal and user control panels.

- Full set-up and ongoing support, as well as access to Total's online billing platform and Helpdesk.

When we host your email through TMO, we will need to host all mailboxes within your domain. That way, you will benefit from full synchronisation and shared access to mail, diaries and contacts. For individuals who do not require mobile access to their email, we can simply host their static mailbox for a cost of £9.99 per month (ex VAT).

There is no need for any formal IT infrastructure or software, other than a PC and an internet connection. You don't even need Microsoft Outlook as this is fully licensed and provided within the TMO platform.

If you don't currently have suitable broadband connectivity, Total can provide this via a Tier 1 carrier, such as BT.

If you do not have an existing domain name registered for your email (eg mycompanyname.co.uk), we can assist you in doing so or alternatively, your email can be managed via our own domains.

TMO is a highly secure service that offers data protection to levels far greater than would be possible within an office environment. Not only is the platform housed within highly secure facilities, the service itself is tightly controlled at every level

Every single communication to and from the platform is secured using a network of devices and technologies designed to provide rock-solid safety of information. Whether communicating using Microsoft Outlook, Webmail or a BlackBerry® smartphone, traffic is end-to-end encrypted. Outbound email to third party servers is also encrypted and any inbound email will be encrypted if this is supported by the sending party.

Data stored on the platform is protected by anti-virus technology, hardware and software firewalls with standby units and all backup data stored at our secondary site is fully encrypted.

In addition, email is robustly scanned and verified for spam and virus content by multiple layers of tests including sender reputation, recipient verification, content analysis, frequency and image recognition.

The TMO platform has multiple points of redundancy - that means that if one system fails, another automatically takes over. The platform runs in government approved data centres and has large scale power, cooling and internet connection and capacity.

In short, it is far more comprehensive, resilient and secure than mail arrangements within a small business. Our hosted platform has a 99.9% uptime SLA, together with a robust response mechanism to address any situations out of our control. The service is fully monitored with automatic alerts ensuring key technical personnel are kept informed of service status.

Using a hosted solution of this sort through one service provider also means that points of failure are reduced. If you use one supplier for your BlackBerry® smartphones, another for Broadband and you either host your mail in-house or use another third party provider, any aspect of your arrangement could fail.

With TMO, you have one point of contact and say for example, that your internet connection failed, you would still be able to access your email via your BlackBerry® smartphone or accessing TMO via another connection (eg wi-fi or a 3G card). Any inbound or outbound mail to PCs will simply queue for delivery or sending until your connection is restored.

There is a minimum contract period of two years for all hosted BlackBerry® email solutions from TMO. This enables us to provide you with very competitive monthly pricing based on airtime agreements.

Throughout this period - or longer contract term should you prefer - the cost of your monthly subscription remains fixed, so you have no need to worry about pricing increases. Voice tariffs can also be reviewed to reflect any major changes in your usage patterns, for example a large increase in your use of text messaging, regular international traffic etc.

Setting up TMO is very simple and can be handled throughout by our own support staff. Alternatively, you may prefer to utilise our online technical and end user portals for this purpose or for some ongoing administrative tasks, eg creating aliases or changing passwords.

When you place your order for TMO, we will ask you to fill in a short form with all the information we need to set up your account - details such as mailbox addresses and passwords, any groups you would like set up, mail forwarding or any other special requirements.

Once this is complete, all other tasks such as activating your BlackBerry® smartphone or migrating historical email are quick and simple to undertake. Full step by step guides are available online, too.

We understand though that the thought of deploying your own technology, however straightforward, can seem quite daunting. That's why we are available to talk you through the process or even take care of the 'technicals' for you.

Once we have received your signed contract, your service should be fully functional within five working days.

This allows us to dispatch devices and ensure your account is set up on the platform according to your own individual requirements.

No - email continues to flow whilst your account is being set up. Once your new mailbox becomes live, all historical email is simply imported in. This can either be done by our own support staff or easily performed yourself with the aid of our step by step guide.

Each mailbox starts with a generous 1Gb storage as standard. Whilst this is ample for the majority of users, you can of course elect to increase this further to an unlimited amount, if you need live access to more historical emails or archives. (Charges available on request)

With TMO, your emails are backed up automatically, safely and securely. Our backup process allows you to recover any email or folder, directly from within Outlook, at any time up to 30 days from deletion.

If your computer crashes or the hard drive fails, you simply reconnect your new PC to the platform using our automated Outlook setup tool. Your email automatically re-synchronises, including all of your appointments, contacts, read/unread messages, folders and email processing rules. No email will be lost in the process.
